I visited Amal Tamara this April and I can confidently say that this is the kind of wellness retreat that I was looking for and the ayurvedic resort has surpassed all my expectations from this break. The services, design of the program, the meals, the practices, the property, and the overall hospitality at Amara are top-notch! I am so impressed!
I love their structured approach; I love how they encourage you to adopt healthy practices gradually and I love how they also let you be and allow space! The staff is extremely talented, professional, and warm. There is this short phrase we use in India – “Seva bhava” (the joy in serving); this is what I felt all through my 9-day stay at the retreat and at every juncture of my treatment. I even spent my birthday at Amal and the staff made it super special!
I hope I can return back again next year, and I really hope they will keep up with the same standards of a traditional yet modern authentic Ayurveda wellness retreat!

A perfect Ayurvedic experience!
For those who understand Ayurveda, know it’s a journey into the inner self!!!
And that it’s not only for the ones who are looking for a treatment of a specific ailment but also for the ones who are looking to just detoxify the body, mind and soul, heal and rejuvenate on the whole.
That’s what the entire concept of wellness is and after spending 7 nights at Amal, I can say with. confidence, Amal was close to perfection!!!
Being a sort of botique property with 19 rooms, they are able to take care of clients in the best possible manner. Personal attention by the team, detailed sessions with fantastic doctors under the leadership of Dr.Reji, personal plan chalked out for each day, amazing ever smiling fab at their job kinda therapists, the head chef and his team creating magic with their culinary skills in every single meal, the serving staff at the dining are courteous & caring, the front desk warm & prompt, the housekeeping top notch and that’s one thing I am always particular about having a major OCD, and the well manicured gardens and the entire property spic and span.
Cultural performances every alternate evenings added to the experience. Yoga, meditation, cooking class, knowing what goes in your therapy oils, singing bowl therapy, all enhance the experience.
And the best thing they follow strictly is no phones allowed anywhere except your room.
Digital detox is very well a part of this journey and that’s how it should be.

And oh, how can the breathtaking views of lake Vembanad be forgotten, which I woke up to each morning and trust me, that’s therapy in itself!
