Green Guidelines
At Amal Tamara, we embrace sustainable living and invite our guests to join us in protecting and preserving the pristine environment of Alappuzha, fondly known as the “Venice of the East.” Nestled between the Arabian Sea and the Vembanad Lake, this region is home to shimmering waterways, tranquil canals, rich biodiversity, and vibrant culture. Together, let’s ensure this natural beauty thrives for generations to come.
Eco-Friendly Practices for Your Stay
- Dispose of plastic bottles, wrappers, and other waste only in designated bins. Never discard items in canals or waterbodies.
- Help us segregate waste to facilitate recycling and composting. If unsure, ask our team—we are happy to assist.
- Support our efforts to conserve water and energy. Every watt of power and litre of water saved contributes to sustainable living.
- Reusable products provided in cottages are for your use during your stay. If you would like to purchase similar items, visit The Verandah’s retail shop or inquire at the reception.
- Kindly avoid causing damage to the property, cottage, or its belongings. Guests will be charged for repairs or replacements in case of any damages.
- The lush landscapes surrounding Amal Tamara are home to birds, reptiles, insects, and plants. As guests in their natural habitat, please treat them with kindness and courtesy.
- Sunscreens: Opt for mineral-based sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, avoiding those with oxybenzone and octinoxate.
- Insect Repellents: Choose natural alternatives like lemon eucalyptus oil or citronella instead of DEET-based products.
- Personal Care Products: Use biodegradable soaps and shampoos, steering clear of items containing microbeads.
- Cleaning Products: Avoid harsh chemicals and select eco-friendly cleaners.
- Reusable Items: Say no to single-use plastics; bring your own reusable bottles, bags, and containers.
